Important Safety Information
Fluoxymesterone is FDA-approved for specific medical indications including hypogonadism and delayed puberty. Anabolic steroids have not been shown to enhance athletic ability, and non-medical use for physique or performance enhancement falls outside approved indications.
Because fluoxymesterone is a 17-alpha-alkylated compound, liver function should be periodically assessed during medical use. Cholestatic hepatitis and jaundice have been reported with 17-alpha-alkylated androgens at relatively low doses, and the drug should be discontinued if liver function abnormalities appear.
Important
Non-Medical Use
Higher-than-physiologic exposure to fluoxymesterone can carry additional health risks including severe hepatotoxicity, lipid profile disruption, and suppression of endogenous testosterone. Product strength and laboratory verification do not establish that non-medical use is safe or appropriate for an individual.
Potential Adverse Effects
Hepatotoxicity: Fluoxymesterone is a 17-alpha-alkylated steroid associated with cholestatic jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, and in rare cases peliosis hepatis and hepatic neoplasms.
Cardiovascular effects: Androgens can decrease HDL cholesterol and increase LDL cholesterol, potentially accelerating atherosclerosis. Blood pressure elevation is also possible.
Androgenic effects: Acne, accelerated male-pattern hair loss, and increased body hair growth are possible. In women, virilization signs including voice deepening, hirsutism, and clitoromegaly may occur and can be irreversible.
Endocrine suppression: Fluoxymesterone suppresses endogenous testosterone production through feedback inhibition of luteinizing hormone, leading to reduced testosterone levels and potential fertility impairment.
Psychiatric effects: Mood changes including depression, mania, aggressive behavior, and hallucinations have been reported with androgen use.
Conditions Requiring Medical Evaluation
Fluoxymesterone is contraindicated in men with known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate or breast, in women who are or may become pregnant, and in patients with serious cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease.
Caution is required in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver disease, or risk factors for either. Existing medical conditions should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional before any consideration of androgen use.
Monitoring During Therapy
Medically supervised fluoxymesterone therapy typically involves periodic laboratory assessment. Liver function tests should be obtained periodically because of the hepatotoxicity associated with 17-alpha-alkylated androgens. Hemoglobin and hematocrit should be checked for polycythemia, particularly at higher doses.
Serum cholesterol and lipid levels should be monitored, as androgens can adversely affect lipid profiles.
