Important Safety Information
Mesterolone lacks FDA approval for human use in the United States and is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance. It is contraindicated in the presence of prostatic carcinoma since androgens can stimulate the growth of an existing carcinoma. It is also contraindicated in previous or existing liver tumors and hypersensitivity to the active substance.
Unlike most oral anabolic steroids, mesterolone is not 17-alpha-alkylated, which gives it little or no potential for hepatotoxicity. However, rare cases of benign and malignant liver tumors have been observed after the use of hormonal substances such as mesterolone.
Important
Non-Medical Use
Mesterolone lacks FDA approval for human use in the United States. Non-medical use falls outside approved indications and carries health risks. Product strength and laboratory verification do not establish safety for human consumption.
Potential Adverse Effects
Androgenic effects: Mesterolone has strong androgenic activity. Acne, accelerated male-pattern hair loss, and increased body hair growth are possible. In women, virilization signs including voice deepening, hirsutism, and clitoromegaly may occur.
Erectile effects: Frequent or persistent erections of the penis may occur. If this happens, the dose should be discontinued to avoid injury.
Prostate effects: Regular examination of the prostate during treatment is advised to exclude prostatic carcinoma. Mesterolone may worsen benign prostatic hypertrophy.
Cardiovascular effects: Mesterolone can decrease HDL cholesterol and increase LDL cholesterol, potentially increasing cardiovascular risk.
Fluid retention: Androgens can cause fluid and electrolyte retention, which may worsen conditions such as epilepsy, migraine, or cardiac dysfunction.
Conditions Requiring Medical Evaluation
Mesterolone is contraindicated in men with known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate or male breast, and in patients with previous or existing liver tumors. Caution is required in patients with cardiovascular disorders, renal or hepatic impairment, epilepsy, migraine, diabetes, or conditions aggravated by fluid retention.
Monitoring During Therapy
Medically supervised mesterolone therapy typically involves regular prostate examination to exclude prostatic carcinoma. Liver function, cholesterol profile, and hematocrit may also be monitored, particularly with prolonged use. Patients should be advised to seek medical attention immediately if an erection persists for more than four hours.
