Important Safety Information
Nandrolone phenylpropionate is indicated as an adjunct to specific therapies and dietary measures in pathologic conditions characterized by a negative nitrogen balance, and for the palliative treatment of selected cases of disseminated mammary carcinoma in women. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and in known or suspected carcinoma of the prostate or breast in the male.
The FDA proposed withdrawal of approval for nandrolone phenpropionate in 1983 for indications lacking substantial evidence of effectiveness. Current prescribing information indicates that androgenic effects are relatively uncommon at recommended dosages, but the risk increases with high dosages and prolonged treatment.
Important
Non-Medical Use
Higher-than-physiologic exposure to anabolic steroids can carry additional health risks. Product concentration and laboratory verification do not establish that non-medical use is safe or appropriate for an individual. Nandrolone phenylpropionate is a controlled substance and obtaining it without a prescription is illegal.
Potential Adverse Effects
High dosages, prolonged treatment and/or too frequent administration may cause virilization in women, appearing as hoarseness, acne, hirsutism, and increased libido; in prepubertal boys as increased frequency of erections and phallic enlargement; and in girls as increase of pubic hair and clitoral hypertrophy. Hoarseness may be the first symptom of vocal change which may end in long-lasting, sometimes irreversible deepening of the voice.
Other potential adverse effects include amenorrhea, inhibition of spermatogenesis, premature epiphyseal closure, and fluid retention. Anabolic steroids may occasionally induce fluid retention, particularly in patients with latent or overt cardiac failure, renal dysfunction, hypertension, or migraine.
Nandrolone lacks the C17alpha-alkyl group associated with liver dysfunction and cholestasis. However, liver dysfunction has been reported in association with anabolic steroid use, and monitoring is prudent.
Conditions Requiring Medical Evaluation
Nandrolone phenylpropionate should be used with caution in patients with latent or overt cardiac failure, renal dysfunction, hypertension, or migraine, since anabolic steroids may occasionally induce fluid retention. Caution is also recommended in patients with incomplete statural growth, since anabolic steroids in high dosages may accelerate epiphyseal closure.
Skeletal metastases of breast carcinoma and liver dysfunction require monitoring. Hypercalcemia may develop both spontaneously and as a result of anabolic steroid therapy, and should be treated appropriately. Existing cardiovascular disease, abnormal blood counts, and other medical conditions should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
Monitoring During Use
If signs of virilization develop, discontinuation of treatment should be considered, preferably in consultation with the patient. Monitoring of cardiac, renal, and hepatic function is recommended in patients with relevant conditions. Periodic assessment of blood pressure, lipid profile, and hematocrit may be prudent.
Laboratory testing of the product itself is separate from clinical monitoring of the person using the product. Product testing does not assess individual health status or suitability for use.
Product Care
Storage & Handling
Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep the vial securely stored and protected from conditions that could compromise the product. Inspect the vial and solution before use and do not use a product that appears damaged, contaminated or otherwise abnormal.
